It uses waveforms to find matches from radio stations, thus removing inconsistencies that often arise when data is collected from self-reported radio lists. MTR almost exclusively tracks digital, so you might find more spins reported on MTR (compared to other platforms) as digital tends to have songs during advert slots on the corresponding terrestrial broadcast.
